M62 motorway smash left two-month-old baby and toddler girl, 19 months, dead and their parents seriously injured in hospital

TWO young children have died following a horror smash on the M62 motorway.
The two-month-old baby boy and 19-month-old girl were rushed to hospital after the car they were in left the motorway on Sunday.
Their mum, aged in her 20s, is currently in a serious condition, while the dad - believed to have been driving - was treated for minor injuries.
Tragically, the two young children were pronounced dead yesterday.
Police said the family, from West Yorkshire, were driving in a Honda Jazz when they left the westbound carriageway.
An air ambulance, fire crews and police were scrambled to the M62 near the junction with the A19 Whitley Bridge, Goole, at around 3.30pm.
Diversions were put in place as emergency services tended to the crash.
The eastbound carriageway reopened at 8pm and the westbound opened at 9.10pm following recovery of the car.
Police are now appealing for witnesses to the crash and urged anyone with footage to get in touch.
Traffic Sergeant Hamish Halloway, who attended the incident, said: “I’d like to extend my deepest sympathies to the family involved following this tragic incident.
“Any fatal collision is deeply upsetting for the families involved but it’s impossible to imagine the horrific ordeal this family is currently going through.
“I’d like to thank the members of the public who stopped to help, in particular the driver of a white HGV who was not involved in the collision but gave a massive amount of assistance to the family at the scene
